Black Friday came and went, but we didn’t have to deal with endless lines at the mall to get this gift. Justin Timberlake debuted a remix to one of his singles from The 20/20 Experience Pt. 2 “TKO” and it features a star-studded list of rappers including J. Cole, A$AP Rocky, and Pusha T. All of them come through with impressive verses that do justice over the Timbaland production, but J. Cole in particular flat out just bodies the track. Cole thankfully switched up his flow on this and showed us his menacing side while taking his opportunity to address the infamous “Control” verse by Kendrick Lamar. We heard more than enough responses at the time the verse came out, but Cole certainly had the right to share his feelings on it and he did so effectively. Take a listen below and let us know what you think!

Final Consensus: Well this was certainly a nice Black Friday surprise. Glad JT and Timbaland realized that this beat was perfect for a rap remix, and I’m even happier they were able to get J. Cole, A$AP Rocky, and Pusha T to hop on it. This track will be getting the most attention due to J. Cole and his mentioning Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse. Definitely enjoyed how Cole flipped it and told a story about his “girl” who he caught as she had the verse as her ringtone. But forget the story….that aggressive flow from Cole is what made the verse a memorable one. Critics of Cole say that he can get boring with his repetitive delivery, but when Cole raps with this much tenacity, he kicks those opinions to the curb. That is why as a fan of Cole I love when he switches it up. Not sure how much longevity this song will have to be honest, but if anything it gets me excited to see what J. Cole follows up Born Sinner with….hopefully more stuff like this.
