Pusha T and Pharrell are two artists that were on a roll in 2013, with the former releasing critically acclaimed album My Name Is My Name and the latter churning out hit after hit with the likes of Robin Thicke and Daft Punk. These two Virginia natives have had a close working relationship since the Clipse and The Neptunes (their respective groups) were at their prime back in the early 2000’s. With those classic records in mind, Pusha T’s announcement regarding details about his next album have sparked great excitement in the hip-hop world.

Pusha T revealed that starting on January 2nd, he would be hitting the studio for 20 days with The Neptunes to create the early groundwork for his next album that will be titled King Push. While there is no official release date, the fact that we already have an album title from Pusha is welcomed news. After recently hearing Pharrell produced tracks on My Name Is My Name such as “Suicide” and “S.N.I.T.C.H”, we know that some great music can come out of this nearly 3 week studio session.

Being a huge fan of both of these artists, I cannot wait to eventually see what comes from this announcement. Considering how successful Pusha T was in 2013, it is smart of him to keep the ball rolling and continue working while he is in a good space musically. It will probably be awhile before we hear any results from this news, but it is definitely a good start to 2014 for hip-hop fans knowing that Pusha T and The Neptunes are in the lab working.
