Pusha T and Pharrell have had a strong presence in hip-hop news lately. Pusha is riding the success of his well-received album My Name Is My Name and Pharrell had a major impact across the entire music world in 2013. Pusha T kept the momentum going when he announced that he would be hitting the studio with Pharrell and Chad Hugo (The Neptunes) for three weeks to start the recording process for his next album King Push. However, the buzz is now at an all time high with reports saying that Pusha T has been joined by his brother No Malice in the lab; meaning a new Clipse album is potentially in the works.

A story by Karen Civil broke the news while many remained skeptical as they waited for an official announcement from one of the artists. Pusha T apparently reposted a link to the story on his Facebook page, but that has now been taken down. Nevertheless, nobody has come out to deny the report so it seems likely that the Clipse and Neptunes have rejoined forces to see if they can recreate the musical magic of the Lord Willin/Hell Hath No Fury days. In past interviews, Pusha T has made it clear that a new Clipse album would require a heavy amount of dedication and focus:

“When it comes to the Clipse, that’s a special brand to me. Me and Malice talk about doing a Clipse album,” Push said. “I’m not into toyin’ around with that, like just dropping records that ain’t related to an album. We owe our fans something super special, so when it’s time to do that, we just gonna zone in and focus in on that.”

Based off Pusha’s impressive work on My Name Is My Name, we know that he is capable of bringing his A game on this project. No Malice is more of a wild card with his gospel influenced sound of late, but if the brothers could capture the interesting contrast of styles they now have, it could prove to be a captivating concept.

We can only know so much from Instagram pictures, but the idea of the Clipse and the Neptunes releasing an album in 2014 is certainly exciting. Click here to read the Karen Civil story and let’s cross our fingers that it is legitimate.
