If you have had the pleasure of listening to Snoop Dogg’s (under the name Snoopzilla) latest album 7 Days Of Funk, you are already familiar with Dam-Funk as he produced the entire record. Dam-Funk is best categorized as a modern-funk musician, a title that is becoming more rare nowadays. The producer created the perfect sonic atmosphere that allowed Snoop Dogg to recapture some of his early G-Funk style and influence, resulting in a great project. Meanwhile, B-Real has started an interview series titled The Smoke Box which consists of the Cypress Hill legend smoking up and chatting with hip-hop artists. Luckily enough, B-Real enlisted Dam-Funk to join him for an in-depth interview.

Along with discussing his most recent 7 Days Of Funk project with Snoop, Dam-Funk touched on a number of topics such as his early funk/hip-hop influences and how he prides himself on being a funk connoisseur. From reminiscing on Dam-Funk’s early catalog to detailing the difference between sampling vs. live instrumentation, B-Real always asks the right questions and we have become a huge fan of this interview series.
