While we did not get a chance to compile a best of 2013 list in terms of Nardwuar interviews, from the onset I must make it clear that I view Nardwuar as one of the best music journalists out there. For those who do not know, Nardwuar is an interviewer from Vancouver, Canada who is known for his unique personality and borderline stalker musical knowledge. Rather than bore the artist with bland questions, Nardwuar does extensive research on his subject’s past and brings up topics that leave them simultaneously confused and in awe. While some artists do not take kindly to his eccentric style, most are genuinely impressed by Nardwuar’s effort and obvious passion for music.  To kick off 2014, Nardwuar chatted with producer Diplo and per usual it was an entertaining exchange.

Typical of any Nardwuar interview, a wide variety of topics were discussed, ranging from the origin of the ever so popular “Harlem Shake” phenomenon as well as his connection with M.I.A and her hit song “Paper Planes”. We also got some insight regarding Diplo’s early musical influences, specifically Florida’s Miami Bass scene. And to cap things off, we get to watch an entertaining surprise ending that brings a twist to Nardwuar’s signature ‘strike a pose’ stance.

You can watch the interview below and we will look forward to more music from Diplo in 2014. Expect many more Nardwuar interview posts in the future!
