Planet Asia and Guilty Simpson are highly respected underground hip-hop artists that have a boatload of quality material between the two. From Planet Asia’s work with the likes of DJ Muggs, Evidence, and Madlib to Guilty Simpson’s history with J Dilla and Black Milk, these emcees have attracted similar high-caliber producers. Beacuse of this, it is fitting that the idea of a two-sided remix project came about. Producers Apollo Brown and Gensu Dean have essentially traded places; Apollo has recreated half of Gensu’s Abrasions EP with Planet Asia while Gensu has recreated half of Apollo’s Dice Games EP with Guilty Simpson. The result of these collaborations are hard hitting and underground fans will be pleased with the efforts of each duo.

You can listen and read descriptions of each side of the project below! Let us know what you think.

Detroit producer Apollo Brown delivers his take on the already raw album “Abrasions” (produced by Gensu Dean). Apollo’s stripped down, soul drenched production offers new grain for the legendary Planet Asia’s vocal jewels.

P1200 Jedi, Gensu Dean lays down the official remixes of the popular “Dice Game” album (produced by Apollo Brown). Drawing out new textures and angles from the raw and reflective Guilty Simpson verses, Gensu reveals uncanny dexterity with the legendary Hip-Hop production tool – the SP1200.
