Miguel quickly rose to the top of R&B’s elite after the release of critically acclaimed album Kaleidoscope Dream back in 2012. However, besides some features here and there Miguel has been relatively quite on the solo front. Luckily enough, we have received this new record “Simplethings” as it will be included on the upcoming HBO original series Girls soundtrack. The track stays in line with the musical style that has made Miguel so successful, and it is a nice treat that his fans will embrace.
“Simplethings” features Miguel’s powerful vocals that never cease to impress, and he touches on the familiar subject of his feelings for a significant other. The guitar-riddled production and bass-filled rhythms give the talented Miguel the appropriate backdrop to flex his naturally commanding voice. The lyrics on the song are simple (hence the song title) yet effective, and we certainly hope to be hearing more from Miguel in the near future.
