After making a promise to concern himself with his music/fans and not the critics, Washington D.C. rapper Wale has come through with a remix to The Gifted’s strip-club anthem “Clappers”. The remix features a revamped beat by Hit-Boy (who raps briefly) and features verses from MMG mastermind Rick Ross, label-mate Fat Trel, and Atlanta’s rising star Young Thug. The new version of the song stays true to the original (which featured Nicki Minaj and Juicy J) and its stacked line-up makes it a certified banger.

Besides the inaudible yet entertaining crooning of Young Thug at the end of the song, each artist comes through with a strong verse on the remix. Rick Ross and Fat Trel in particular shine with standout flows with boasts about their women and riches. While Hit-Boy’s beat is a slight departure from the original production of “Clappers”, it still has a hard bounce to it and allows each emcee to flourish. As Wale continue to strive for greatness and acceptance in rap’s elite grouping, we have no problem with him releasing hard-hitting remixes like this one.
