The electronic rock duo of Phantogram are on a roll recently as they have recently released multiple singles from their upcoming album titled Voices. Since they are influenced by artists such as J Dilla and Madlib, it is easy to see why Phantogram has been able to mesh nicely in collaborations with hip-hop artists such as Big Boi of OutKast (“Lines”). However, this track titled “Bill Murray” sticks to Phantogram’s roots of electronic music as it creates an airy sonic experience featuring compelling vocals and heavy synths.

When asked about the background of the song title, Phantogram member Josh Carter briefly explained that “We named it Bill Murray because we always pictured a sad Bill Murray for the visuals of that song, we want him to be in the music video.” Hopefully that concept will come to fruition as the song possesses a laid-back vibe that can easily be labeled as reminiscent of the Lost In Translation version of Bill Murray. From the title to the actual musicality of the record, “Bill Murray” is the complete package and we are excited to give Voices a full listen when the album is released on February 18th.
