Last week we were anxious to report on CyHi The Prynce’s newest single “Napoleon”, a hard-hitting track that marked the comeback of CyHi after a relatively quiet stretch. We were impressed by that song and the wait was not nearly as long for CyHi’s next track titled “Coretta”. Falling in line with the Valentine’s Day theme, “Coretta” is a smoother record with a name that pays homage to the widow of Martin Luther King Jr. as CyHi uses a more R&B influenced beat as his backdrop. With “Coretta” Cyhi The Prynce is showing his flexibility as an artist and the song is another good sign for the G.O.O.D. Music emcee as 2014 rolls along.

“Coretta” is a warm and soulful track that features CyHi rapping directly to a significant other, but just because the song is on the softer side does not mean CyHi sacrifices his wordplay or lyrical wit. The song is set to be featured on CyHi’s upcoming Black History Month mixtape which will be dropping on February 24th and is executively-produced by none other than Kanye West. It is nice to hear CyHi’s versatility and he made the right move by dropping this song right around Valentine’s Day. We’ll be anticipating CyHi’s upcoming project as it will be interesting to see what he’s been up to the past year or so.

Listen to “Coretta” below and let us know what you think!
