While the Action Bronson diehards are well-aware of Meyhem Lauren, other casual hip-hop fans may not be familiar with the Queens emcee. Meyhem has been a figurehead in the underground New York rap scene for a number of years now, but he is just starting to garner more attention on a national level. With a raw hard-hitting style that is thoroughly street-certified, Meyhem has been releasing nothing but high-quality music and that trend continues here. “Egyptian Musk” is a track from Meyhem Lauren’s collaboration project Digital Camo with well-respected DJ/producer J-Love and it is the definition of raw. With Digital Camo being available only on vinyl, Meyhem was smart to release this track in order to give his project some well-deserved exposure.

One of Meyhem Lauren’s greatest strengths as an emcee is his vivid imagery skills, and that quality is fully represented on “Egyptian Musk”. Meyhem paints an accurate picture of the street life within his verses as he flows over a piano-based boom-bap beat. Meyhem first started in hip-hop making appearances on DJ J-Love tapes, and the chemistry between the two could not be more clear. Based off the strength of this track, any hip-hop vinyl collector would be wise to add the Digital Camo EP to their collection and we will be looking forward to hearing more music from Meyhem soon.
