While some people make it a point to endlessly compare OVO singer PARTYNEXTDOOR with fellow Toronto singer The Weeknd, it is impossible to avoid the irony with the release of PARTYNEXTDOOR’s latest offering. Right after The Weeknd dropped his impressive remix of Beyonce’s “Drunk In Love”, PARTYNEXTDOOR did not waste time in releasing this smooth sounding song titled “Persian Rugs”. Although this track is on the slower side compared to what we’ve heard from PND so far in his young career, the singer sounds at home on the track with his chilling voice meshing nicely with the ambient production. One thing is for sure, Drake sure has a knack for picking out great talent from his hometown and fans of this “new wave” of R&B music are relishing in this new music from Toronto’s finest.

As usual, PND is very direct with his lyrics as he sings about his art of seducing a particular girl. Crooning over the piano keys and late-night mood style of production, PND continues to impress as “Persian Rugs” is another great representation of his natural talent. We were huge fans of his self-titled debut project last year and it will be interesting to hear PND’s continual growth as an artist. Save your comparisons to The Weeknd and just enjoy the music that both artists are blessing us with. Both “Persian Rugs” and The Weeknd’s “Drunk In Love” remix are on repeat over here.

Listen to “Persian Rugs” below and let us know what you think!
