Queens rapper Prodigy and longtime producer Alchemist have been collaborators for quite some time, and proof of their natural chemistry was once again displayed last year with the release of their Albert Einstein project. The album was well-received as many Mobb Deep fans relished in the chance to hear these two solidified artists reconnect, and luckily enough they have released more material for us. Prodigy and Alchemist have blessed us with a short EP/bonus edition to their Albert Einstein album that features previously unheard records from those studio sessions. One standout track off the EP is “Murder Goes Down”, an old-school boom-bap style track that showcases Prodigy flowing with ease over the excellent Alchemist production.

“Murder Goes Down” is certainly an album worthy song as the mesmerizing beat provided by Alchemist gives Prodigy the proper platform to spit his classic street life rhymes. Alchemist always seems to motivate Prodigy and at this stage of his career, it proves to make all the difference as P’s energy on this track is more fueled than usual. There is a reason why Mobb Deep and Alchemist clicked together back in the day, and even in 2014 their styles continue to feed off each other. And while “Murder Goes Down” proves to be a standout amongst the other bonus tracks, giving the full EP a listen is the only way to complete the Albert Einstein listening experience.
