We have made it pretty clear that we are big fans of Mac Miller due to his overall improvement as an artist the past few years. A big part of this has been Mac’s production choices as well as his own newfound ability behind the boards under the name Larry Fisherman. While Miller does not rap on this track titled “Amen”, he provides a fitting instrumental for a posse cut featuring a few of his common collaborators/rapper friends. Ab-Soul, Da$h, RetcH, and Vince Staples all jump onboard to spit verses on “Amen” and each one is impressive in their own way. Don’t expect any melodic hooks or R&B features on this one, just raw verses from a variety of dope emcees.

Per usual, Mac Miller creates an interesting beat on “Amen” which has a laid back, yet haunting vibe to it. Each rapper delivers a solid verse over the Larry Fisherman provided drums and the contrast of multiple styles on the mic gives the track some replay value. While we are more so familiar with the work of Ab-Soul and Vince Staples, Da$h and RetcH also come through with strong lyrical performances that warrant a more thorough background check on their previous music. The chemistry on display is evident as we can only imagine what was going on in the studio during the creation of this song. If you are a fan of Mac Miller’s most recent production work, “Amen” will be a track you can rock with.

Listen to “Amen” below and let us know what you think!
