It is well known that rapper/singer Future has a knack for making catchy hooks and melodies, which is a big reason why the Atlanta artist has reached such a high level of prominence in the past few years. During a performance at SXSW a few weeks back, Future decided to perform an unreleased track titled “Good Morning” that sounded extremely similar to Beyonce’s smash hit “Drunk In Love”. Well it turns out that Future had a heavy hand in the creation of the track as “Good Morning” seems to be a reference track that Beyonce used for her monster single. Producer Detail is responsible for both songs, so it seem that “Good Morning” got pushed to the side for Future once the music world took notice when Beyonce dropped her ‘secret’ album late last year. While “Good Morning” may have become a successful single for Future, there is no doubt that the song reached its full potential with Beyonce and Future should be happy with those royalty checks. Future discussed the origins of “Good Morning” in multiple interview’s upon the release of the song and he gives us an insightful look into the making of the record, which will not appear on his upcoming album Honest(more…)

Young Scooter is another rapper out of Atlanta who has gained notoriety in recent years after putting out several successful mixtapes. That trend should continue after the release of his latest track “Disfunction”, which features a star-studded lineup of influential Southern hip-hop artists. With auto-tune master Future on the hook and verses from Memphis legend Juicy J as well as up-and-comer Young Thug, Young Scooter pretty much hit the jackpot in gathering this grouping of guest appearances. And when you put that line-up over a spacey synth-heavy banger courtesy of Metro Boomin and 808 Mafia, “Disfunction” proves itself as a certified street-anthem. There might not be a lot of lyrical complexity from these artists on the track, but that does not take away from the strength of “Disfunction” as a quality, big-time collaboration.  (more…)

The rapper/singer that goes by the name of Future increased our anticipation of his upcoming album Honest tenfold when he released “Move That Dope”, a hard-hitting posse cut track produced by none other than Mike WiLL Made It. With Future being joined by talented artists such as Pharrell, Pusha T, and Casino, the track became a instant standout and we now have an appropriate music video to accompany the song. The visuals are as retro as the production, featuring everything from Pharrell’s infamous giant hat to Future gripping a massive old school cell phone. There is just a certain bounce to “Move That Dope” that is infectious, and we can’t wait to see how it fits in the overall scope of Honest. (more…)

There has been much anticipation for Future’s upcoming album Honest due to its multiple delays and even name changes. While Future’s recent song releases have been more R&B influenced, this latest single “Move That Dope” is a posse cut that gets back to Future’s hard-hitting roots. The song title lives up the name as the track features guest appearances from the likes of Pharrell, Pusha T, and Casino who all rap their drug-dealing themed lyrics over a booming bass-heavy beat courtesy of hit-making producer Mike WiLL Made It. This track is set to be included on Honest and Future made a great choice by making this hustling anthem as his next single. This is one you must play at the highest volume to fully appreciate and by the way….Pharrell absolutely KILLS his verse.  (more…)

A month or two ago, the news of legendary hip-hop group OutKast reuniting was merely a rumor. However, Rico Wade (Future’s older cousin/one-third of Organized Noize) confirmed that Andre 3000 and Big Boi will be reuniting at the Coachella Festival later this year in an interview with Stereogum. This is monumental news for OutKast fans and although the duo have not made any music together since 2007, this is certainly a step in the right direction.  (more…)

Future has swiftly become one of the more popular hook kings in hip-hop the past year or so. His recent street single “Sh!T” is one of many hits that have caught on recently, most likely attributed to the fact that high rising producer MikeWiLLMadeIt is the man behind the club favorite hood anthem. Due to the tracks’ success, “Sh!t” is getting the remix treatment from a number of high profile rappers, but this version featuring Drake and Juicy J is the one that has everybody talking as Drizzy seems to fire multiple subliminal shots at none other than Kendrick Lamar.
