The LOX have been planning to return in the modern New York rap scene in a big way after the surprise release late last year of their EP Trinity. The project served as a nice appetizer with an official album from Styles P, Jadakiss, and Sheek Louch on the way and the trio recently released the visuals for “Faded”, a standout track off the EP. The song has a feel-good vibe to it with a catchy hook provided by Tyler Woods, and the veteran spitters compromising The LOX do not disappoint. With “Faded” having a club-friendly atmosphere to it, it is wise choice for these New York hip-hop legends to promote it as 2014 rolls along. We are interested to see how their reunion LP turns out since these three emcees are still capable as ever on the mic.  (more…)

Ransom is a rapper who made his way in the game on the mixtape circuit in New Jersey and he gained enough notoriety to sign a deal with Def Jam back in the mid-2000’s. That deal went sour, but since then he has still put out quality material as well as beef with artists such as Joe Budden and Nicki Minaj. Ransom’s most recent body of work titled The Proposal was a full collaboration project with producer Statik Selektah and its positive reception gave Ransom some momentum going in 2014. With his independent full-length album Pain&Glory on the way, Ransom has dropped “Shampain” as the first single off the project. Ransom recruited New York legends Jadakiss and Raekwon to assist on the track that showcases each artist rapping about the common dichotomy between success and struggle.   (more…)

While Meek Mill continues to plot his next album that is set to drop sometime in 2014, he is still riding the success of his Dreamchasers 3 mixtape that came out last September. There were some standout cuts on that project and the Jadakiss featured “Heaven Or Hell” was definitely one of them. The track heavily samples the classic Luniz song “I Got 5 On It” and turns it into a gritty street record. The feature by veteran New York rapper Jadakiss elevates the song as he lives by his long-standing reputation of killing his guest verses. Meek Mill released the music video for “Heaven Or Hell” last week, and it serves as a reminder of how impressive Meek can be when rapping about the ills of the street life. (more…)

The LOX are veterans in hip-hop having had great success as a group since 1994. Consisting of East Coast rappers Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek Louch, the trio started off on Bad Boy Records in the mid 1990’s and that’s all they needed to catapult their careers. Money, Power & Respect and We Are The Streets were two albums that had a great impact in the late 90’s/early 2000’s and although the group was on a long hiatus since then, they have made their return. Each artist has had a successful solo career outside of The LOX, but fans have been looking for them to reunite and 2014 is the year that wish will come into fruition. The group released a surprise EP titled The Trinity last month as a preview of what is to come. Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek Louch all sat down with Sway on Sway In The Morning to talk about their past, present, and future as a group along with other hot topics in hip-hop.  (more…)
